A word from Rich
Hi folks,
We have a name for our new benefice of 8 churches:
United Polden Churches
There was some discussion at our Joint PCC (ie with Moorlinch and Stawell included) as to whether the Polden Wheel name should be retained. However, there was a consensus that our new name should reflect a new identity for our group, rather than just absorbing Moorlinch and Stawell into our existing group.
It makes excellent sense to retain āPoldenā in the name, given that seven of the churches are ranged along the Polden Hills (the exception being Burtle). āUnitedā reflects a desire among all of our churches to be united as one group rather than to be a fractured collection.
Also a quick reminder that our launch service will be on
Sunday September 13th at 11am.
at All Saints Church in Ashcott.
Being united in Christ is one of the main priorities in the New Testament. For example, āBut whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spiritā [1 Cor 6:17]. The most vivid expression of that is when Paul writes about the Church ā the body of Christ ā having one body with many parts: āJust as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.āĀ Thatās a key concept for us: each church is one part of the whole body ā locally, the United Polden Churches, but far more importantly, the body of Christ.
Every blessing,
Rich Tweedy
